The FA Girls' Football Festival Oct 15

The FA Girls' Football Festival
Twenty five Upper Junior girls had a terrific day out at the FA Girls' Football Festival at the Oxford City FC ground. This is a joint initiative run by the FA and Continental Tyres. The aim is to provide girls with an exciting, interactive football experience for both those who are new to the game as well as those who play regularly.
The FA Girls' Festival combines football, lifestyle and music. Each event was led by an FA approved coach and we enjoyed 5-a-side matches and an introduction to the ContiWarmUp, the newly FA endorsed warm-up programme. There was an interactive trailer housing trophies and digital stations, an inflatable pitch, speed cage, target shoot, quick feet and batak boards.
The girls got to meet players from Oxford United's women's team (lots of autograph signing), learn some freestyle tricks and take part in a referee workshop. After all that exercise the girls were treated to hair braiding and face painting.
Coaches from the Oxfordshire FA will be visiting us in school to encourage the girls to get more involved in football.
Enjoy the pictures and see if you can spot Mrs Smart alongside her England team mates.
