Robert Courts Visit - 3rd July 2020

3rd July 2020

We were visited  by our local MP, Robert Courts. I showed him around the school although, because of restrictions, we were unable to go inside the classrooms. At least the tour gave him an idea of how we have had to adapt the school, for example one-way systems, partitioning areas of the grounds etc, during these unusual circumstances. I was also able to share with him my frustrations around the limitations placed on school leaders following the government guidance in terms of bringing back other year groups this term, funding issues and unnecessary bureaucracy. Some of the children from one of the Year Six Bubbles joined Mr Courts and me in the hall for a Question and Answer session, and the Year Six Bubbles joined us via Zoom. The Year Six children asked excellent questions, including those around our parliamentary petition on single-use plastics, as well as questions about his role as an MP, the government’s handling of the coronavirus and issues about our local community.
