Welcome to 4EW!
We are currently studying the Anglo-Saxons and have enjoyed many cross-curricular learning opportunities this term including building representations of natural and man-made features in and around Anglo-Saxon villages; designing and making our own Anglo-Saxon crosses; dying wool with natural materials such as berries and onions and researching information about Anglo-Saxon life to include on a collaborative document created in G Suite.
In English we recently wrote our own lockdown memoirs to document our experiences so others in the future can learn about what lockdown life was like for children. We created our own class publishing house and are in the process of collating our work to create an anthology. Alongside our class projects we regularly have time to write in our own personal project writing books too. We like to publish our work in a variety of ways.
We are avid readers in 4EW and our current class book is The Legend of Podkin One Ear by Kieran Larwood. We enjoy reading a range of books independently too. Some of our current recommended reads are The Girl Who Speaks Bear by Sophie Anderson, The Storey Treehouse series by Andy Griffiths and Quick Let's Get Out of Here by Michael Rosen. Many of us especially enjoy performing poems and we have recently been recording ourselves performing poems by Benjamin Zephaniah from his book Talking Turkeys.
We love the mindfulness time we have each week as part of our PSHE sessions and we have been thinking carefully about how we can ensure we work well as a class and as a team.
We use technology daily in the classroom and both children and their parents can find regular updates about our learning in class (as well as homework) on the Seesaw app.
