Class 2D

Welcome to 2D!

We are really looking forward to a fun packed year of learning in 2D!

The children have settled back so well and are already beginning to show progress in many areas.

In Year 2 we will be consolidating some essential skills learned in Year 1 as a lot of the children have missed several months of schooling. We will be assessing the children throughout the first few weeks so that we can ensure all children have the support and challenge they need for their future learning.

In 2D we will be doing a mixture of whole class and small group work and the children will have access to continuous provision as they did in Reception and Year One. The emphasis of continuous provision will look different than it has in previous years and the children will be encouraged to develop old skills and learn new skills during this time. We will be reflecting on our learning daily and will be talking about how we can improve things and how we can support each other in our learning.

We are very fortunate to have an outdoor area which we are developing. The children will have lots of opportunities to use this for their learning.

Our topic for this term is The Great Fire of London. We will be learning lots of historical facts and skills which will include how the fire started and how things have improved and changed since the Great Fire.

In Year Two we will be developing our independent working skills and will be taking on more responsibility for our learning. We will use resources in the classroom and our friends to help with this.

Unfortunately, due to the current climate we will not be doing the trips we would usually do. We will however use the local area to look for signs of Autumn.

We are very excited about our time in Year 2 with all the great things we will be learning!
