Welcome to 2C!
In 2C we have had a wonderful time settling into a new year, we have already had lots of fun and we are really looking forward to the year ahead. Here are some of the fabulous experiences we will enjoy:
We will be going to Batsford arboretum in October which will be full of great outdoor learning opportunities. After half-term we will begin preparations for the Infant Nativity in December, which is always a lot of fun.
Our topic this term is The Great Fire of London and we have already learnt loads about it! We will be making our own Tudor-style houses and discussing how homes now are protected against fires and we will be learning about which materials are flammable, among many other experiences!
In science we will be discussing the properties of materials, learning about absorbency, flammability, strength and brittleness. We will do a range of experiments and tests as we believe that science is best learnt practically. We will also take part in regular STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) challenges to help develop these important skills.
This term we will also be developing our reading skills, both independently and as a class – we are currently reading The Owl who was afraid of the dark and will be moving on to Diary of a Killer Cat next!
We will also be following instructions for our own class pasta sauce, writing letters, learning about traditional tales and fairy tales and developing our mathematical skills in place value, addition and subtraction and money.
If you have any questions, queries or would just like to have a look around the classroom or in your child’s books, do not hesitate to come in and talk to us, our door is always open!
