Christmas Astronomy Evening

4th December 2019

Christmas Astronomy

It was lovely to see so many families at our Christmas Astronomy Evening, it was a wonderful event and a fantastic experience for both adults and children. We were all thrilled to watch the International Space Station orbiting the earth and doing so directly over the Batt School playground! Robin from the Chipping Norton Astronomy Society had us spelled bound as he explained that the object we were watching was travelling at 5 miles a second! Later Robin talked about the astronomy behind the Christmas star story and we finished a lovely evening with hot chocolate, mince pies and stargazing. A huge thank you to Sonia Gooderham and Miss Cooper for organising such a special evening and to Robin for keeping us so thoroughly entertained.
